People really bug the shit out of me. If I didn’t have to interact with them, I would be pretty freaking happy (okay, not really, but you get where I’m coming from). Hm, what’s bothering me most now? I don’t think I can just choose one thing. Incompetence, lack of basic social etiquette and the belief that one deserves special treatment just for breathing top the list today.
I think I’ll start with basic social etiquette in the work environment.
1. Keep your phones on silent, or at least vibrate. I don’t want to hear your annoying Halloween ringtone over and over when your codependent son decides to text you back-to-back. Same goes for phone calls.
2. Seriously? Just save the personal phone calls for your lunch break and after work. I understand emergencies come up and short, to-the-point conversations are necessary sometimes. However, “what do you want for dinner?” and “Take the dog for a walk” conversations are not emergencies. Fuck that shit. It’s rude. Get the fuck out.
3. Whistling while you work. Whomever invented that phrase should be shot. They obviously didn’t work in a small office environment. Maybe I have unrealistic standards, but that shit is annoying. I conduct myself with a certain amount of decorum, and I consider it disrespectful when it is not reciprocated. It would be one thing if the individual were young (and I’m young, so really it’s not an excuse) but this individual is in her 50s. I don’t want to hear your 30-minute personal conversations with your partner arguing over dumb shit. Leave. It. At. Home. Who’s with me?!
